Post API-based Constraints
Hi,

I'm trying to specify all constraints without resorting to parsing Strings. The existing API is fine for the most part but I trip up on things like:

Code:
new AC().size(String);
ConstraintParser.parseBoundSize(String, boolean, boolean);

In both those cases I am expecting to be able to specify an "int" instead of a String. I understand that the String argument allows me to specify a more sophisticated expressions so it definitely has its uses, but I'd like to see a method that takes an "int" for simpler use-cases that can be completely type-safe. What do you think?

Sounds reasonable.

I'll add to the the work queue. Though I should warn you, currently there's not much time over for MiGLayout. It's not very profitable (since it's free..) and Oracle has shown no interest in it.

Cheers,
Mikael

I've got some contacts at Oracle (nothing crazy, but it has helped in the past). If you do your part, I will do mine :) My only worry is that technically speaking JDK7 is already feature-frozen.

Thanks, but don't get your hopes up. It's been the third most wanted RFE for years and they just downgraded it some months ago to will not fix or something like that.

I just spoke with my contact. He assures me that the priority will be raised from P5 to P3 (I think that's "Very Low" to "Normal"). I also mentioned that the community would appreciate some sort of feedback from Oracle on this issue. He said he would keep me informed of any updates but did not indicate if such feedback would be forthcoming ;) Finally, if you look at http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6530906 you will note that it is marked as ACCEPTED, not WON'T FIX.

Anyway, it's a step in the right direction :) I'll keep on pushing on my end.

Ah, I remember now. It was lowered from something like normal to "Very Low".
